Voom expands in Latin America following massive gains in its Brazilian commercial operations

The Airbus, on-demand helicopter service, Voom has made massive gains ever since they launched commercial operations in Sao Paulo. There has been consistent growth over the last year in the sales and deliveries of light and medium twins with three H135 light twins delivered to the Brazilian Navy. Along with one ACH145 twin delivered to a private customer. It was said by a company spokesman, that they are expecting the newly announced, enhanced version of H145, the five-blade, FADEC-equipped H145 D3, to do pretty well in the Latin American market. The newer version offers an extra 150kg payload along with added levels of comfort. The success of Voom is just a part of the Airbus Helicopters’ success in its Helibras unit in Brazil.

So far over 100,000 users have registered to the Voom database. The registrations scaled up by 220 percent and flights increased by 200 percent between April 2017 and April 2018. Between April 2018 and April 2019 trips increased by 62 percent out of which 60 percent of the passengers were flying with the service for the first time. From December 2017 to December 2018, air-tour flights booked through the service increased by 20 percent per month. In the first month itself, the Voom app had been downloaded over 4,500 times. The ‘Voom For Business’ platform has been introduced recently by Voom and now has more than 20 major corporate clients. Voom is on a mission to expand urban mobility by making helicopter flights easily accessible and much more affordable for urban travelers allowing them to book helicopter flights online with as little as an hour’s notice.

Helibras does believe that there is strong potential to expand sales for both EMS and police operators, noting that at the moment Brazil operates only one EMS helicopter per every 14 million inhabitants. Helibras and Airbus are making efforts to continue to invest in upgraded customer service throughout the region. They’re doing this using the HCare customer service program. Airbus Corporate Helicopter (ACH) customers are allowed to enroll in HCare First, this includes a five year, 1,000-hour maintenance package. Easy Parts and Easy Exchange options are offered by “HCare Easy’ on the other hand ‘HCare Smart’, charges an early flight fee, covering standard maintenance, repair, taking the uncertainty out of maintenance costs.
