How to use AI for making anime (5 simple steps)

AI has been around for quite some time now, but it is only because of certain language-based AI tools, such as ChatGPT, that AI has taken a big leap in terms of overall popularity among the masses.

AI technology has been growing rapidly since ChatGPT, and many different companies are investing in different types of AI that will help users in producing different forms of content.

You already might have seen a number of different images floating around the internet of Pope Francis wearing a big white jacket and some other common AI-made images.

However, in this article, we will be discussing how you can use AI to create anime.

Now, before everyone gets excited about creating their own Anime series, it should be noted that through AI, you can mostly just create images and written scripts.

There are not many AI platforms available that straight up create videos of the information that you type in.

So, what you are mostly getting is more of a manga than an Anime because, as we all know, Anime is a series that is in motion picture, and that is not the case here.

So, with all that cleared up, let’s discuss how you can try to make your own anime using just AI.

AI platforms required to create anime

So for this tutorial, we will be using two different anime platforms and a video editing tool to help combine everything into one video so that it might give an impression of an Anime.

The main AI platforms that we will be using to create Anime are ChatGPT and Holara.

We will be using ChatGPT to create a short script for the Anime series, and we will be using Holara to create images of the Anime series that you want to make your anime look a bit real.

Cost of ChatGPT and Holara

ChatGPT is a free AI platform that you can use easily and ask a number of questions till you are able to find an answer. It should be noted that the free version of ChatGPT allows only a limited number of questions to be answered by the AI.

However, for this tutorial, we should be okay with using the free version of ChatGPT.

Holara also has a free plan, but that free plan only produces images randomly, and you can’t use your own prompts to create the images, so that is not useful for someone who wants to create an anime series with specific prompts.

Holara has two pricing plans $10/month, which allows users to 4,000 Hologems/month and $25/month, which allows users 15,000 Hologems/month.

*Hologems are basically a type of currency used in Holara that will get deducted after each AI-made art is generative.

So, you can easily choose which price plan you want, and then we can start making our very own AI anime.

Steps for making Anime using AI

1. Create an account on both ChatGPT and Holara

The first and most obvious step that you have to do is create an account on ChatGPT and Holara to use both of these services in order to make the desired Anime that you want to make.

The sign-up process for both of them is quite simple, just like most sign-ups are required on different websites.

You simply have to go to their website, register your mail and phone number, and once you have done that, you will be able to use both the services.

For Holara, you would also have to choose the plan that you have to use for creating your desired anime images and pay for the service that you have chosen.

2. Use ChatGPT for writing a script for your anime

Since ChatGPT is a language-based tool, you will need to use it for writing the overall script of your anime series.

Once you have made your ChatGPT account, all you need to do is go to the website and type in your prompt command.

It can be anything depending on your taste, so you can easily write ‘write a script for an anime series with the person having magical powers’.

Once you have figured out your prompt for your Anime series and written it down, ChatGPT will provide you with a paragraph of your anime script. You can add in more details as per your liking.

3. Use Holara to produce Anime images for your script

Once you are satisfied with the overall script that ChatGPT produces, you can head over to Holara and create your Anime images.

For Holara, also you need to log in to your account on its website, and once you have done that, you can see several different settings options to choose from on the right side of the screen.

In the ‘Model’ setting, you will see the ‘Akasha: Anime’ setting available, and you can choose the size of the images that you want to produce.

You can also choose some advanced settings, such as ‘Steps’, ‘Scale’, ‘Seed’, and how many number of images you want to produce.

Once you have chosen the settings that best suit you, all you need to do is give the platform the prompts of your Anime based on the script written by ChatGPT.

Each image generated will cost some Hologems, and the Hologems depend on the plan that you have purchased.

4. Record the script

Once you have gotten on your anime images and script ready, you need a voice-over to make all of these different elements come together.

You can record voice-over through any app on your computing device, such as Audacity. You can also use a voice over software. You can even use the recording app that is available on your phone and narrate out the script that is written by ChatGPT.

5. Use a video editing software to combine everything

Now that you have your script narrated out in audio form and the visuals of your anime, all you need to do is combine all of them together in a video editing app and make it feel like an anime series.

Simply import all the images that Holara produces that you have downloaded for your Anime series and also import the audio file narrating the script of the anime series.

Put both of them together in a timeline on your video editing software, and use transition settings like dissolve in between each picture and put in some background music, as per your liking.

Continue to edit the material till the time you feel it works well for you, and once you are satisfied with the end product, you have successfully created your own anime using AI.

Let’s discuss some of the frequently asked questions regarding this topic.

1) Can AI be used to make Anime?

Yes and no. As I mentioned at the start of this article, AI, for now, can’t produce a video. It can generate an image, a script, or even generate audio also.

However, video is something that is not available at the moment, and since Anime is basically a motion picture, so technically, AI cannot generate anime, but only images.

Still, with the speed at which AI is getting new updates, maybe in the next few months, it will be able to generate videos also, and it can actually be useful to make more anime using AI.

2) What AI is used for anime art?

There are a number of different tools that you can use that will help you create Anime using AI. One of the AI tools that I used for this article is Holara.

Holara is fairly new to this game, but it has some decent results when it comes to producing anime art using AI.

You just have to login into Holara and choose the subscription that best suits you and give the platform any prompt that you want to use for producing AI-generative anime art.

There are also other AI platforms available, such as Novel AI Anime Art, Niji Journey AI Anime Art Generator, Ernie Anime Filter, Anything V3, etc.

3) How to turn yourself into anime using AI

You can also convert your own image and make it look like you are in an anime. To pull off such a thing, you need to use apps like Fotor that have special features called ‘Anime Your Picture Now’.

All you need to do is create an account on Fotor, and once you have done that, you will and to a page that basically converts your image into different anime pieces.

You need to select the image of yours that you want to convert and choose the different styles in which you want to change yourself into an anime character.

Once you have done that, simply click on ‘Generate’, and you will have an anime version of yours.
