Tips and Tricks for the First Raid of Shadowlands
Castle Nathria is the first raid of Shadowlands. The gothic building is located in Revendreth and hosts ten bosses who will do their best to kill any outsider. The last one, Sire Denathrius is responsible for the Anima drought: it plagues the zone, feeding souls directly to the Maw.
However, a path to Sire Denathrius is long and thorny. These tips will help a beginner to adapt to Castle Nathria easier and reach the last vicious boss faster.
Learn the Boss Sequence
How can you prepare for a battle if you have no idea who your opponent is? You can’t! To develop the right tactics and strategy, you need to know what to expect from the boss in front of you.
In Castle Nathria, a lot depends on you and your actions. After the first boss, Shriekwing, you have a choice among Sun King’s Salvation, Huntsman Altimor, and Artificer Xy’Mox. After defeating Artificer Xy’Mox or Sun King’s Salvation, you will encounter Council of Blood, while Hungering Destroyer follows Huntsman Altimor. You can find the whole sequence here.
Once you know who your next opponent is, learn his/her weak spots and use them when battling. It will give you a significant advantage and will help to progress across the Castle faster.
Balance Your Build
Team play is a crucial factor to success. Balanced teams have much more chances to proceed with the battle faster and eventually slaughter all the enemies. Typically, WoW players choose between three sizes of a team:
- Small – 10 players. 2 tanks, 2 healers, 6 DPS.
- Medium – 15 players. 2 tanks, 3 healers, 10 DPS.
- Large – 20 players. 2 tanks, 4 healers, 14 DPS.
There is no perfect recipe for the number of roles. What you should pay attention to, though, is healers. Under the ideal scenario, you need one healer for every five players. It will help you to balance the powers and always have enough support.
Small and medium teams, however, can do with one healer if there is no other choice. In this case, the healer must be super professional. It implies a deep understanding of the role and outstanding skills.
Since success is a cumulative notion, other team members also must have good in-game skills. Pairing up with professionals is hard, especially if you are still ranking up. If you want to improve your character fast or play with professionals, you can use Castle Nathria Boost. Professional boosters will help you to navigate around the Castle, give you valuable tips, or can merely do the entire job instead of you.
Store Up with Consumables
Although consumables are hardly cheap, especially at the beginning of the first raid, you will find them handy in the game. Don’t forget that you can always craft them on your own or ask other players to do this for you – for some gold, of course.
Here is what you ultimately need:
- Combat Potions – They are useful for all specs. However, you may want to select the best one, depending on your class. All the potions offer the same cooldown, so you can grab any or select the most suitable if you have an opportunity. Some examples: Potion of Sacrificial Anima, Spiritual Mana Potion, Potion of Deathly Fixation, Potion of Spectral Agility.
- Weapon Enhancements – They are designed for weapons. However, consider your type of gear: for example, Shaded Weightstone is for blunt weapons, while Shaded Sharpening Stone – for sharp. Combine the enchantments with a potion, and you will see a much better effect. This works well with Embalmer’s Oil and Potion of Empowered Exorcisms.
There are also many other useful consumables. For instance, utility potions like Potion of Unhindered Passing or Potion of the Psychopomp’s Speed may help you to overpower specific bosses.
Enchant Your Gear
Enchanted gear is beneficial in two ways. Firstly, it significantly boosts your performance. Secondly, you have more chances to be invited, provided the leader checks your weapons. This doesn’t come cheap, especially if you want to buy higher-end enchantments. Start low, and don’t spend too much on enchantments until you get a good weapon that you will play with for a long time.
Entering the first raid in Shadowlands is thrilling. You are about to meet a lot of adventures on your way to Sire Denathrius. To facilitate your path, work on your gaming skills, balance the team, and don’t overdo with resources: buy just the essentials and save gold for later.
