uTorrent not responding

uTorrent is one of the world’s most lightweight torrent websites that is popular for its incredible efficiency. uTorrent is a safe application but there are a few occasions where you may face the uTorrent not responding issue.

Follow any of these fixes given below to solve your uTorrent not responding issue.

Solution 1: Restart via Task Manager

The simplest way to get uTorrent to launch successfully is to shut all of its processes. To do so, Go to the Task Manager and shut down all uTorrent processes and try relaunching the app.

To shut down uTorrent process Step1 is to Open Task Manager by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc

Step2: Open uTorrent and click End Task.

Step 3: Select File > Run New Task.

Step 4: Then select Browse from the window that opens

Step 5: Finally, launch uTorrent by Navigating to the following path:
C:\Users\AppData\Roaming\uTorrent

This should most likely solve the uTorrent crashing issue, double-check it by downloading a file from uTorrent if the error precedes move to another solution.

Solution 2: Run as admin

If you have allowed the file limited access to download it can lead to uTorrent not responding. Even transmitting of huge data transferring can lead to your account being suspicious. In order for uTorrent to work smoothly you will have to run it as a permanent admin:

Step1: Right Click on the uTorrent icon and open Properties.

Step2: Tick the box next to Run this program as an administrator.

Step4: select Apply > OK.

Step 5: Restart your computer and re-run uTorrent.

Solution 3: Allow uTorrent through Firewall

For those who have antivirus software installed on their PCs or other devices chances are that uTorrent is not responding because it is being blocked by the antivirus software.

uTorrent setup wizard automatically adds an exception for uTorrent in Windows Firewall, however, for antivirus software, you will have to manually add uTorrent as an exception.

If you are using any of the below-mentioned antivirus software click on them to learn how to add uTorrent as an exception.

Solution 4: Disable proxies

Enabling proxy servers has many benefits as it can let users browse privately by hiding their IP address and also boost internet performance. But it can cause apps and websites like uTorrent to not work.

If uTorrent is not working on your device try disabling your proxy servers and see if the issue is solved.

Follow these steps to disable proxy servers:

Step 1: Hold the Windows logo key and R simultaneously and enter inetcpl.cpl.

Step 2: Browse to the Connection tab and click on LAN settings.

Step 3: Untick the box next to Use a proxy server for you LAN.

Open or refresh uTorrent a few times, if uTorrents is still not responding then try another solution.

Solution 5: Deleting app data

The local configuration files on your computer can get corrupted by updates or changes to ‘My Computer’, that can cause a failure to read the data for uTorrent and thus it does, not respond.

In order to clear the corrupt data, you will have to delete the saved data from the application configurations folder. To do so follow these steps:

Step1: Press and hold the Windows logo key and R simultaneously and enter the command %AppData%\utorrent in the Run box.

Step2: Delete all content from the present folder.

Step 3: Restart your computer and launch uTorrent to see if the problem is solved.

Solution 6: Delete downloading files

The files that are currently downloading via uTorrent can also cause it to get irresponsive. If the files you are downloading are taking longer than expected go to the Download directory and delete them. This can solve the uTorrent not loading error.

You can download those files again once you have successfully restarted uTorrent.

Solution 7: Reinstall the application

The final solution which I can recommend if all others are unsuccessful is to reinstall uTorrent. Reinstall uTorrent using this shortcut and get it to successfully launch

Step1: Press and hold the Windows icon key and R together, then enter the command appwiz.cpl in the Run box.

Step 2: Right-click uTorrent and click Uninstall.
