When you are working in the mines and looking for rare ores you consume a lot of energy and then you also have to some monsters and creatures in the mines where if you die which in this case means that you have next to no health in your health bar, you will lose some of your collected items and money. The more you try the more you lose your progress in the mines but also some of your other items permanently.

Now to stop that from happening the easiest thing which you can do is to make and take some food with you while you are going to the mines that will help you to replenish your energy.
