What is Canal+ Sports?

Canal Plus is a french streaming site that will allow you to watch a number of different content pieces on its streaming service. It has three different services under the name of ‘Canal Plus’.

You have Canal+, where you can watch everything that is available on Canal Plus, then you have Canal Plus ‘Cine’, which offers you Canal Plus Cine, Netflix, Disney Plus, etc.

And then you have Canal Plus Sports, where you will get access to different sporting channels like beIN Sports, Euro Sports, and all of the sporting events available on Canal Plus.

Reason to look for sites like Canal+ Sports

Reason 1 – Not available worldwide

Canal Plus is not available to access worldwide and is only limited to countries like France, Poland, Myanmar, and Vietnam. These are the only countries where you will be able to access its services.

Now, the countries listed on it are not bad, but certainly not what many people or targetted a group of people who read these articles are. So, for you, this may not be the best way to watch your desired sporting event.

And if you want to access this site, then you would have to use a VPN, which could cost you some more money in addition to its already expensive subscription rate.

Reason 2 – Expensive service

When you sign on Canal Plus Sports, you have to abide by a 12-month contract for which you will have to pay $33.73/month, which for some people would be alright.

But after the twelve-month period is complete, you then have to abide by a 24-month contract where you will have to pay for the same service, $44.32/month!

Now that is a pretty expensive service, regardless of how comfortable you are with your finances, and you can’t even withdraw from the completion of the contract; otherwise, you will have to pay more.

Reason 3 – French Native Language

Now, even if you have managed to get a VPN and signed up for its three years contract, the fact remains that Canal Plus Sports is a site that has channels that mostly have their native language to be French.

There might be options for English-speaking sports channels, but the fact remains that most of the sporting events and programmes surrounding the events will be in French.

And if you are someone who is not at all fluent in speaking French, then you should definitely check out some other alternatives because it would be a waste of money for you if you don’t understand what’s going on.

Best Canal+ Sports Alternatives

Disney+ Hotstar

hotstar sports page

Disney+ Hotstar is a streaming service that is primarily available in India and some other countries for now. You can access Disney Plus in other countries as well, but it is mostly Hotstar which I will be talking about.

Hotstar comes from the Star Group, which has many different sports channels to its name, and courtesy of that, you are also able to watch many different sporting events on this streaming service as well.

There are also many other great things about Disney+ Hotstar as well, so let’s discuss all of them one by one.

What we liked about Disney+ Hotstar

Disney+ Hotstar offers a wide variety of different content for everyone. You obviously have everything that Disney puts out on its streaming service, Disney+.

Then you also get everything that Hotstar has to offer, so you can access stuff like Live Sports, Hotstar Originals, etc. and on top of that, you can also watch some of the HBO Originals on it as well, thanks to Hotstar again.

Plus, the subscription rate, when converted from INR to USD, is fairly cheap as well. You will get an annual subscription to Disney Plus Hotstar for around $18.35!

Which is incredibly cheap when you compare to the rates of other streaming services.

What we didn’t like about Disney Plus Hotstar

Disney Plus Hotstar, although it is great for what it offers, it is also limited to countries like India, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia. You can’t access this service for this price point elsewhere.

In fact, you can’t even use this service in any other country unless you use a VPN. And many people have complained about the fact that even with a VPN, you barely get the service of Disney Plus Hotstar.

So, that is a major flaw on its part and something which can be understood to a certain extent, but if someone wants to avail of its services for the price it is at, they won’t find it.

Why did we choose Disney Plus Hotstar as a Canal+ Sports alternative?

Disney Plus Hotstar is a great alternative to Canal Plus Sports. It not only offers you the desired sporting event which you would want to see, but you can also watch other content as well.

It is a combination of Canal Plus Sports and Canal Plus Cine, to a certain extent, and you get it all for a price where the annual price is less than what you will pay monthly for Canal Plus Sports.

The language also spoken on Disney Plus Hotstar is English and Hindi, with all of its content having English subtitles as well.

Review and rating of Disney Plus Hotstar

Disney Plus Hotstar truly is a perfect package for everything and everyone. You will get all your sporting events on it, and along with this, you can also watch all of Disney Plus content and Hotstar’s content.

And the overall pricing point, for the most part, is very attractive as well. So, if you are someone who is residing in the country where it is available, then you should definitely consider it.

I am a subscriber of this service, and I really like it; because of this, I would be rating Disney Plus Hotstar 4/5 stars.

Now TV

Now TV

Now TV is a streaming service which is owned and operated by Sky TV services. On Now TV, you will find tons of different channels that Sky TV has to offer.

There are different passes for different sections on Now TV; the passes are all monthly based, so you don’t have to sign up for any contractual period like you have to do on Sky TV.

You got Entertainment Pass, Cinema Pass, Mobile Pass, Sports Pass, both monthly and daily, and then something which is known as a Boost pass about which I will talk about later.

What we liked about Now TV

The great thing about Now TV is the fact that it is a streaming service, so you can access it on any device you like to watch the games on. Another great thing about Now TV is the fact that it has a 30-day roll-out scheme.

This basically means that after every thirty days, you have the option of whether you want to continue the services or you want to discontinue the services.

In this way, you won’t have to spend a lot of money as you are not contractually obligated to the service, and many people do prefer this over other payment modes simply because it is much more flexible and pocket-friendly.

What we didn’t like about Now TV

Now TV is quite expensive when compared to other streaming services; there are ways to lower the prices, but it is still quite expensive altogether.

For each of the packs that you wish to see, you have to pay rather than having to pay it all for one price. And its Sports pass is equally expensive, where you have to pay around $36/month!

And then comes Now Boost, which I found to be such a money-hungry move that it really annoys me.

So, if you use any of the Now TV passes without the Now Boost pass, then you will have to watch ads on all of the content that you have subscribed to, you will also be able to watch on only one device, and the resolution would 720p!

And Now Boost pass costs an additional $5/month!

That is ridiculously expensive. In comparison, ESPN Plus offers all of the things that you would want with sports for $9.99/month! With all the features that you get with Now Boost Pass.

Why did we choose Now TV as a Canal+ Sports alternative?

If Now TV is such an expensive streaming service, then why would I recommend it as an alternative to Canal Plus Sports? Well, simply put because there are ways where you can bypass these expensive plans.

You see, even Now TV knows that they are being ridiculously expensive for their price range, and when you try to cancel their services, they will lead you to a page where they will have exclusive discounts on different passes just for you.

These discounted passes can sometimes be more than 50 per cent of the actual pricing point, so instead of paying around $36/month for Sports Pass, you can get that Sports Pass for around $8/month!

Review and rating of Now TV

Now TV is ridiculously expensive if you are not smart enough with it. You will easily get robbed if you instantly pay the entire amount.

But if you know these tricks, like cancelling the subscription and getting exclusive discounted prices, then you might be able to enjoy the service more.

Still, it is a service that is quite expensive, regardless of how much discount you get on it; because of that, I will be rating Now TV 2.5/5 stars.

Yupp TV

YuppTV Alternatives

Yupp TV is also a streaming service that allows you to watch numerous different live tv channels, along with sports on it. It is a service which is not widely known by a lot of people, and that is understandable.

Yupp TV has been one of the most used streaming services by NRI (Non-Resident Indians) who are staying in countries like the US, Canada, etc.

There are a lot of things to discuss about Yupp TV, so let’s get started.

What we liked about Yupp TV

Yupp TV does offer a compelling price point for its services. You will get Yupp TV for around $17/month, but with its latest offers, Yupp TV is now available at $10/month, which puts it in the category of all the other streaming services.

The catalogue of Yupp TV is also fairly decent, you have a lot of different live tv channels which one usually gets to watch in India and other countries, and the app support of Yupp TV is also quite good.

Plus, the overall services are also pretty reliable, and they have also recently launched a combined streaming service called ‘Yupp TV Scope’.

What we didn’t like about Yupp TV

Yupp TV does ask for a premium price tag as compared to other streaming services, but the service still feels quite cheap and B-graded to me, to be honest.

I have used Yupp TV a couple of times, but the overall look and feel that you get from a premium price streaming service like Now TV or ESPN Plus, is something missing from Yupp TV.

And the fact that you are paying almost the same amount for those services makes it even worse for me.

Why did we choose Yupp TV as a Canal+ Sports alternative?

Yupp TV is still a good alternative to Canal Plus Sports because, unlike Canal Plus Sports, Yupp TV is actually available worldwide, and you can watch it without having to subscribe to a separate VPN.

The live channels on Yupp TV are also pretty good, and many people do use Yupp Tv for viewing sporting events on it.

In fact, you can watch the T20 World Cup 2022 on Yupp TV as well, and other sporting events that you would usually see on Canal Plus Sports.

Review and rating of Yupp TV

Yupp TV is an above-average streaming service. It is not the best streaming service there is, but it is also certainly not the worst of it as well.

The overall service, in terms of content, is pretty good and decent, and its pricing is also quite similar to other streaming services, but my overall issue is with the Brand Image and its overall look and feel.

Other than that, you can definitely try out Yupp TV and see for yourself if you like the service or not. For now, I would be rating Yupp TV 3/5 stars.

ESPN Plus

ESPN+ logo

ESPN Plus is also one of the best-paid streaming services which are dedicated to streaming sports. I have been a fan of the services for quite some time now, and it lives up to its name as well.

ESPN Plus obviously comes from the great sports networking company ESPN. And as I mentioned above, the service lives up to the name of ESPN.

There are a lot of good things to talk about ESPN, so I won’t waste a lot of time introducing ESPN Plus and would get straight into the topic.

What we liked about ESPN Plus

ESPN Plus has everything that you would need if you are looking for a sports alternative streaming service in general. You get almost all types of different sporting events on ESPN Plus.

ESPN Plus also offers detailed articles about the specific sporting event that it is covering, so you can get even more delved into the world of sports.

Plus, the subscription plan of ESPN Plus is also quite attractive. You have to pay around $10/month for its services; earlier, it was even cheaper, around $7/month.

What we didn’t like about ESPN Plus

There are not a lot of things that are negative about ESPN Plus, to be honest. But there are obviously some points which one can point out that ESPN Plus can certainly improve.

Currently, ESPN Plus is only available in the US and nowhere else, and if you want to avail of its services, you would have to get a VPN. I am told that a VPN does work on ESPN Plus pretty well.

If you are a FIFA fan and were looking to watch FIFA on ESPN Plus, then sadly, that is also not the case since ESPN doesn’t have any rights to live stream any of the FIFA matches.

Why did we choose ESPN Plus as a Canal+ Sports alternative?

ESPN Plus is also a pretty good alternative to Canal Plus Sports since you are able to watch almost all of your favourite sporting events on it and at an attractive price point as well.

You also get dedicated news and articles from ESPN Plus, which is also something that Canal Plus Sports doesn’t offer for its services.

Plus, the overall service of ESPN Plus is quite good, and if you get the Disney bundle pack, then for $13.99/month, you can get access to ESPN Plus, Disney Plus and an ad-supported Hulu subscription.

Review and rating of ESPN Plus

ESPN Plus is quite a coherent streaming service which is dedicated to streaming sports and letting its users know everything and anything about sports there is.

The pricing point of ESPN Plus is also quite good compared to other streaming services that only stream sports and nothing else. And if ESPN Plus does expand to other countries, then it can be an even better streaming service.

The overall service offered on it is quite good, and if you are a sports fan, then you should try it out. For now, I would be rating ESPN Plus 4/5 stars.

Sling TV

Sling TV

Sling TV is also a streaming service which I am very fond of. Sling TV is like a classier version of Yupp TV, where you will get all the live channels that you would want to watch at an attractive price point.

The live channels that are on Sling TV have different sporting channels, most notably Fox Sports, which is the main reason why I am writing about Sling TV for this article.

There are also many things to discuss about Sling TV, so without any further delay, let’s get to it.

What we liked about Sling TV

Sling TV has many different live tv channels, so it can be your one-stop destination if you are someone who is looking to cut your cable connection and move into the world of streaming, however since Sling TV is now shut you will need to look at its replacements.

The pricing point of Sling TV, even though it is on the higher end, when compared to what all the channels you are getting, is pretty good.

So, the base price of Sling TV is around $35/month, and you will get around 41 channels on it, which is pretty good for its price range.

What we didn’t like about Sling TV

Sling TV, just like ESPN Plus, is only available in the US and nowhere else. And this could be an issue for some people since it does have a pretty compelling offer in terms of the channels on its content library.

You do get a whole lot of it but are not able to use it other than using a VPN, which is also reported not to work all the time on Sling TV.

The availability of networks like Fox Sports on Sling TV also has to do with your pin code, so you have to check it on their website to see if you have that service or not.

Why did we choose Sling TV as a Canal+ Sports alternative?

Sling TV is quite a good alternative to Canal Plus Sports, and many people would find it quite attractive, to say the least, simply because of how much you are getting for the money that you are spending on it.

The overall service of Sling TV is also quite reliable, and you would have a good time streaming your content on it.

Review and rating of Sling TV

Sling TV is a service which not a lot of people use simply because many people are shifting more to streaming services that have on-demand content.

But, if you are someone who is looking for a streaming service that has live tv channels on it, then Sling TV is the option for you.

I would be rating Sling TV 3.5/5 stars.

Kayo

Kayo streaming app

Kayo is a premium sports streaming service that is available in Australia, and many people are quite fond of it.

It has access to many different sporting events, not just the ones which are played in Australia, but worldwide. There are also lots to discuss about Kayo, so let’s dive right in.

What we liked about Kayo

Kayo does offer a compelling sports streaming service, wherein you will find many different sporting events played along with sports channels like Fox Sports, ESPN and beIN sports.

Kayo’s subscription rates start from $25/month and go all the way to $35/month, but the great thing between the plans is that all of them get the same sporting events and channels.

What we didn’t like about Kayo

Kayo is only available in Australia and nowhere else. And you can’t access Kayo using a VPN as well.

In fact, Kayo is so strict about VPN usage that even if you are in Australia and have a VPN, you have to disable your VPN to access Kayo in Australia!

Why did we choose Kayo as a Canal+ Sports alternative?

Kayo does have the potential to be a great alternative to Canal Plus Sports simply because it is a streaming site that is dedicated to sports and nothing else.

And the overall content on Kayo is also pretty good, with a reasonable pricing point as well.

Review and rating of Kayo

This is the first time I have come across this streaming service, so I don’t know much about it. But, from what I have researched about it, it is a fairly good sports streaming service.

And for that reason, I would be rating Kayo 3.5/5 stars.

Peacock

peacock tv

Peacock is a streaming service that is operated under NBC Universal, so this means that you are able to watch a lot of great sitcom shows that have been released by NBC.

Along with this, you are also able to watch live sports without having to pay any extra money because of NBC Sports, as well, since it obviously comes under the products of NBC.

What we liked about Peacock

Peacock offers a good variety of content that could be quite ideal for a family, as well, because you have your original shows, along with some well-known sitcom shows that have been quite popular.

Then, you find yourself watching live sports on it, as well, without having to pay anything extra, and the overall price of Peacock is still relatively cheaper compared to other streaming services present, making it an all-in-one package.

What we didn’t like about Peacock

Peacock is still a relatively new streaming service and it is not available to use worldwide, as well, which can be a bummer for people who are not staying in the US.

Along with it, while there are some good original content present in it, it is still not a lot, and it does still rely on older well-known TV IPs.

Why did we choose Peacock Kayo as a Canal+ Sports alternative?

Canal Plus Sports is a streaming that only focuses on sports, and Peacock on the other hand, provides you live sports along with other original movies and tv series that can be viewed by the whole family.

The overall price of the service is also quite cheap when compared to Canal Plus Sports, and it does offer a significant bang for your buck.

Review and rating of Peacock

Peacock is a good streaming service that you can try out if you are looking for a service that provides live tv sports, along with some other entertaining content, as well.

Just know that its overall library of content isn’t too big and the service is currently available in only some select few countries.
For that reason and more, I will rate Peacock 3.5/5 stars.

Our recommendations on the best Canal+ Sports alternative?

Canal Plus Sports is a streaming service that is available only in France and some other limited countries, because of which I have listed six alternatives that are from different countries.

You have sports streaming sites from India, Australia, the US, the UK, Canada, and others as well, so it is up to you to decide which one you would choose for your sports streaming entertainment.

My choice among the six of them, regardless of their availability, will be Disney Plus Hotstar and ESPN Plus.

Why did we choose Disney+ Hotstar and ESPN Plus as the best Canal+ Sports alternative?

You would have guessed that these two would be my picks if you simply saw my ratings for both of them.

Let’s start with Disney Plus Hotstar, the streaming service has a lot to offer, and I am someone who occasionally watches sports and likes to watch movies and tv shows in general, so this streaming fits right in.

Then ESPN Plus; is a sports streaming service that would excite any fan simply because of how much it has in store in terms of content.

But, like always, these have been my pick for the best Canal Plus Sports alternatives. What about you?

Do you agree with my choices? Or do you use a different alternative for your sporting events? Do let us know in the comments down below!
