About TikTok

TikTok actually doesn’t require any introduction. Even if you are not using the app, you must have heard the name or at least seen its videos on your mobile device in some way or form.

TikTok is used by a lot of people, including all the famous celebrities that you might know of, and it is not going to stop anytime soon.

TikTok is a new social media platform that has started the new trend of short-form video content, which other social media giants like Instagram and YouTube have all implemented on their platforms as well.

You are able to share various types of videos on this platform, and since it is a video-sharing platform, it has a dedicated video editor on its app, also.

Editing Videos on TikTok

The video editor on TikTok is fairly powerful for its size and is able to edit quite a lot of videos with different types of effects.

For some people, editing videos on TikTok can be a little tricky, and that is a bit expected, so to help those people, I have written this article.

In this article, you will able to use TikTok to edit your videos and upload your videos directly from the app itself and post it as well.

Here are the steps that you need to follow to edit your videos on TikTok.

Steps for editing videos on TikTok

Step 1 – Download the App

Well, obviously, the first step that you have to follow is to download the app. TikTok is available on both App Store and Google Play Store, so you can download it on both iOS and Android devices.

Although, because of some privacy issues with the app, TikTok has been banned from certain countries like India, and even the US has released an issue regarding banning the app.

So, depending on the country you are staying in, you can download the app. So, that is something that you should look into whether TikTok is available in your country or not.

Step 2 – Upload video

After downloading the app, you should start it on your mobile device. Once you have started the app on your device, you will have to give it permission to read your media and gallery on your mobile device.

This is an important step because if you don’t give the necessary permission, then the app wouldn’t be able to read any of the videos that you want to edit on the TikTok’s video editing software.

If you are using an iOS device, then you also have the option of sharing that particular video that you want to edit rather than giving access to all your videos and images on your gallery.

You can also try out and shoot videos directly from the app itself and use that footage to edit. For that, you will be required to allow the app to have your camera and microphone accessible.

Once you have given the app the permission to access your media and gallery, select the video that you want to edit, and the video will be uploaded on the app’s UI.

Step 3 – Use different sets of effects

Once you have uploaded the video on the app, the video should show on the app’s UI along with the different list of tools and features that are available on the app’s video editing software.

Most of the effects that you will find on the right, such as filters, stickers, captions, etc. You will also find the option of a green screen option and templates in the bottom section. This is available when you are recording yourself and not while you are importing videos on the app.

You can search through the different types of filters and effects that are available on the app and try them on the video that you are editing.

It is a fairly simple option, yet it still requires a powerful mobile device to manage all the different effects that you are trying to apply to your video.

If you have a fairly old device, then chances are that the app might function a bit slowly, especially when you are editing your videos on the app.

Step 4 – Open Adjust Clips option

Once you have applied the different effects to the video, you will find that the video and the effects are not lining up properly. For this, you have to click on the adjust clips option that is also available on the right-hand side of the screen.

The adjust clip option opens a preview option of your video with a slider at the bottom of the screen. Through this, you are able to adjust and alter the length of your video to the desired limit.

Once you think that the video is of the appropriate length and works well for you, then you can hit the save option that is available in the top right corner.

Step 5 – Save the video

Once you have saved the video and you are satisfied with the overall look of your video, then you are done with editing your video on TikTok; it is that simple.

You will find multiple different options of editing videos on TikTok, but all of them follow this format only, so no matter whichever template you use for editing your videos, this is the way to go.

After completing editing your video on TikTok, there is only one thing left, to share it on TikTok. You can easily share your videos from the app itself on your TikTok account and also share them with other social media platforms from the app itself.
