I have written a number of articles discussing Tubi TV as it is one of the streaming services that is currently available for free of cost. It provides its users with movies, TV shows and some live television channels, as well.
However, the service is filled with movies and TV shows that feel like they are required to be released on such free platforms because no other streaming service would want to have such as title streaming on their platform.
Tubi is filled with TV movies, such as Thor: The End Of Days, which has nothing to do with MCU’s Thor, but it is a poorly made film that is just there for the sake of it.
But, there are some genuinely good movies that are streaming on Tubi TV, if you look hard enough for it. Before jumping straight into its list of best new movies, you should note that Tubi TV has geo-restriction on all of its content.
So, chances are that some of the films that are listed in this article are not available on your Tubi account and in that case you would have to use a VPN service to get access to these films.
With all that said, here are some of the best films that you can watch on Tubi right now!
Director: Steven Spielberg
Run Time: 124 minutes
Cast: Roy Schneider, Robert Shaw, Richard Dreyfuss
The film that basically coined the term ‘blockbuster’ ‘cause entire blocks of residents used to get filled up for the line in order to book the tickets for this film, Jaws is a film that launched Steven Spielberg’s career and is still regarded as one of the best films made by him.
Set in a small town of Amity Island where a manhunter shark is amidst the waters, a fisherman, police chief and marine scientist go out of their way to kill this shark before it kills any more habitants of Amity island.
Jaws is a cult classic film with some iconic moments and even today the film will hold your attention and give you certain jolts of shock from its jump scares!
You can watch Jaws on Tubi if the film is available in your region or by using a VPN service.
The LEGO Movie (2014)
Directors: Phil Lord and Christopher Miller
Run Time: 100 minutes
Cast: Elizabeth Banks, Chris Pratt, Will Arnett, Will Ferrell, Morgan Freeman
The LEGO movie was a surprise hit in 2014 and it was appreciated by fans and critics alike and it spanned into multiple different Lego movies being released over the course of five years!
The story of the Lego movie is fairly simple and it follows the story of Emmet who becomes a part of an adventure where he has to stop the Lord Business, and save the Lego World as it is!
The Lego Movie is a fast-paced animated film, just like other fast-paced films by Lord and Miller, such as the recent hit Spiderman: Across The Spider Verse, and you will find yourself having a great time watching this film!
Director: Denis Villeneuve
Run Time: 121 minutes
Cast: Emily Blunt, Benicio Del Toro, Josh Brolin, Victor Garber, John Bernthal
Sicario is also a film that was directed by Denis Villeneuve, who has since then made some incredible films such as Arrival, Dune: Part One, and even the upcoming sequel to Dune.
However, in 2015 he delivered a classic film in the form of Sicario. On paper Sicario does feel like a simple western film that deals with heroes versus the Mexican Cartel, but Sicario takes it down a further notch by delivering a fairly dark film that is about the horrors of war.
The overall film is pretty damn good and it is one of the best films that you can currently stream on Tubi right now!
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
Director: Stanley Kubrick
Run Time: 149 minutes
Genre: Science Fiction
Cast: Keir Dullea and Douglas Rain
If you are not a big film nerd, you still must have heard about Stanley Kubrick and his films, most notably this cult classic film 2001: A Space Odyssey!
The film is studied by many filmmakers for its overall concept as it feels very relatable today as the basic story of this film is about a Lone astronaut who is stuck in his space station and has to survive against an AI, HAL-9000, who has gone rogue on him.
While the overall synopsis of 2001: A Space Odyssey is very simple, the film is equally more layered and complicated and it has a lot of deep messages to tell, as well!
You can watch 2001: A Space Odyssey on Tubi if the film is available in your region or if you use a VPN service!
The Fugitive (1993)
Director: Andrew Davis
Run Time: 130 minutes
Cast: Harrison Ford, Sela Ward, Joe Pantoliano, Julianne Moore, Tommy Lee Jones
The Fugitive is also a really great Action film that stars Harrison Ford as the character of Doctor Richard Kimble who one fine day comes home to see that his wife has been murdered and is named as the prime suspect of his wife’s murder.
Soon learning about this, Doctor Richard Kimble goes on a run against the cops and the US Marshall who are hell-bent on catching him as his wife’s murderer.
The Fugitive is a great film on its own and it packs quite a bit of thrill in its story, as well!
Pan’s Labyrinth (2006)
Director: Guillermo del Toro
Run Time: 120 minutes
Cast: Ariadna Gil, Ivana Baquero,Maribel Verdú, Sergi López, Doug Jones
Guillermo del Toro has made a name for himself as one of the best directors working in Hollywood right now because of his unusual stories and his flair for weird-looking creatures in his films.
Pan’s Labyrinth is no such exception and it is often considered to be one of his best works to date. The basic storyline of this film is about Young Ofelia who moves into her stepfather’s house with her mother when at night she comes in a magical world thanks to a creature called Fauno.
However, not everything about this magical world is as it seems, as it is set in the World War 2 period where Ofelia also tries to escape her country and her step-father!
Pan’s Labyrinth is not a fairytale for kids, but for adults!
The Expendables (2010)
Director: Sylvester Stallone
Run Time: 103 minutes
Genre: Thriller, Adventure, Action
Cast: Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li
With The Expendables 4 running in theaters now, it is a good time to catch up with the series (although from the reviews it seems it is better to wait for Expendables 4 to come on streaming rather than going out and watching it in theaters).
The Expendables is a series of mindless action sequences that are performed by legendary actors in this genre, such as Stallone, Li, Lundgren and many more. It is a film to see your old heroes kick ass in a modern time frame and story.
Don’t go expecting a high-piece art cinema, and you will enjoy yourself watching this film on Tubi!
Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994)
Director: Tom Shadyac
Run Time: 86 minutes
Genre: Comedy, Adventure
Cast: Jim Carrey, Courteney Cox, Sean Young
Ace Ventura is Jim Carrey’s one of most well-recognised character and even though the film wasn’t a huge hit when it was first released, it has since then build a cult following with many signature one-liners and dialogues from the film being repeated by Carrey’s fans.
The story of Ace Ventura is fairly simple as it follows the character with the same name whose profession is a Pet Detective and one day a giant whale of a football team’s mascot has gone missing he is called to investigate.
Again, don’t expect some high-class cinema and go with the expectation of watching a ridiculous story with a lot of weird expressions from Jim Carrey and you will find yourself having a good time watching this film!
The Usual Suspects (1995)
Director: Bryan Singer
Run Time: 106 minutes
Genre: Drama, Crime, Thriller
Cast: Gabriel Byrne, Stephen Baldwin, Kevin Spacey
The Usual Suspects is also a film that has had a cult following because of the nature of the film and how it ends, I won’t reveal anything more than that if you haven’t seen the film yet. The film even won an Oscar for Best Screenplay and Best Actor, as well.
The main story of the film is about a con man who is brought by the police at the police station for questioning about a deadly shoot-out that took place and how he was the only surviving member.
What follows is a narration of the story of five criminals who are working under Keyser Soze. You can watch The Usual Suspects on Tubi!
Train to Busan (2016)
Director: Yeon Sang-ho
Run Time: 118 minutes
Genre: Horror, Thriller, Adventure, Action
Cast: Gong Yoo, Kim Su-an, Jung Yu-mi
Train to Busan is a Korean film that exploded in popularity worldwide and it is considered to be one of the best zombie-horror films that has been produced.
The main story of Train to Busan follows the character Seok-woo and his daughter as they both aboard the train that is heading towards Busan to see his now separated wife because of their daughter’s birthday demand.
However, things start to fall apart when a chemical outbreak leads to people turning into Zombies and those Zombies start attacking the people who are in the country and on this train, as well.
Train to Busan is an emotional film that just happens to have Zombies in it, as well! And you can watch this film right now on Tubi TV!
Well, there you have it. An article discussing ten of the best movies that you can currently watch on Tubi right now.
Do note, as I mentioned above, that most of the content on Tubi is geo-restricted, so there is a high chance that some or maybe all of the movies might not be available for you to watch on Tubi’s platform for free and you might need to use a VPN service in order to access the content.
Tubi also runs on ads and that is why it is able to license these movies on its platforms, and the overall ad frequency on Tubi is a bit high compared to other streaming services, so you should know about that as well before deciding to watch a film on Tubi.
As I mentioned above, Tubi has a wide variety of content to share and the majority of them are not so great, there are only a few handful of movies and shows available on Tubi that are actually worth watching on it.
As always, these have been my thoughts regarding this topic. What about you? Do you agree with my list? Or do you think that I missed out on some better films that are available to watch on Tubi for free?
Whatever your thoughts are, do let us know about them in the comments down below!
