Kaiba Review

Science fiction as a genre presents loads of opportunities to create something innovative and memorable. Combine that with anime sensibilities and you might just end up with something truly unforgettable.

Kaiba is one such anime series. Set in a strange world where bodies can be changed and memories trafficked, this 12-episode anime revolves around Warp or Kaiba who wakes up one day with no memories.

What he has is a hole in his chest, a triangular mark on his stomach and a pendant with a picture of a girl in it. Warp escapes from the room and starts regaining his memories throughout his travels.

Kaiba is unique and chaotic, thoughtful and arresting. It has a warped art style that deeply reflects the theme of identity it discusses. Kaiba is a much more emotional story than you may expect and the payoff is extremely cathartic.

Wade into the world of Kaiba if you want to experience a truly awe-inspiring anime.

Great Teacher Onizuka

Great Teacher Onizuka

Japanese Title: Gureto Ticha Onizuka

Great Teacher Onizuka Review

Great Teacher Onizuka, often abbreviated as GTO, is one of the most entertaining anime on Amazon Prime. It follows an ex-biker gang member Eikichi Onizuka who becomes a teacher at a private middle school in Tokyo.

He has his own brand of unique philosophy and the ability to do anything under enough pressure. Armed with his determination to become the greatest teacher ever, Eikichi sets out to tame a class that has driven many teachers to terrible fates.

Our teacher Onizuka’s methods are unorthodox(and might be illegal) but he does manage to get the students to open up to him.

Great Teacher Onizuka is shameless, cheesy and may have aged somewhat badly. But it is also a hilarious and entertaining ride. If you vibe with this sort of humor, you will end up falling in love with this series.

Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku Review

Anime fans, or even nerds in general, would relate hard to the protagonists of Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku. After all, who knows the struggle of being judged for their interests better than anime fans?

The protagonists of this series too are secret otakus trying to maintain a facade of being the average office worker. Narumi works hard to conceal her fujoshi lifestyle at work while no one knows that the handsome and capable Hirotaka is secretly too a game otaku.

Thus, on the surface, Narumi and Hirotaka are perfect for each other but they also struggle to properly communicate which often leads to hilarious situations.

Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku is a light-hearted tale of a romance between two otakus. It has likeable characters, some truly funny moments(read: Narumi’s reactions) and enough heart-fluttering scenes to make you root hard for our otaku couple.
